Description: December 6th is a day of remembrance for 14 young women who were killed in 1989 by a man at École Polytechnique Montréal 'simply for being women'. It is a day to remember not only the women that were killed on December 6th, but all the girls and women who have been impacted by gender-based violence. According to the World Health Organization, gender-based violence is a global epidemic. Yet, workplaces are often under-prepared to support employees affected by abuse from a partner. In this webinar we will explore how misperceptions about domestic violence prevent workplaces from recognizing and appropriately responding to employees who are impacted by abuse. We will then explore steps that HR professionals can take to assist employees and develop relevant workplace policies.
Learning Objectives:
- Challenge common misconceptions about gender-based violence
- Explain the cycle of abuse
- Appropriately respond to and support employees who experience gender-based violence
Who should attend: Anyone in an HR role from junior to most senior can benefit from learning more about how to support employees who may be experiencing gender-based violence. Format: Online - Live Webinar Presenters: David Cory and Jill Cory, Emotional Intelligence Training Company Inc.
