National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

CPHR Saskatchewan will be closed annually on September 30th, in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day.

CPHR Saskatchewan encourages everyone to take time on this day to listen, learn, reflect, and safely participate in events in their communities that recognize the harms of the Indian Residential School system and honour its resilient survivors, their families and their communities.  To acknowledge this day, CPHR Saskatchewan has shared a list of resources, provided by the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce,  that you can access to commemorate Orange Shirt Day.

Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”.  The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations. On September 30, Canadians are encouraged to wear orange to honour the thousands of Survivors of residential schools.
