CPHR Canada and member provinces, like CPHR Saskatchewan, introduced a mandatory ethics requirement in August 2021 that all CPHR members must follow as part of their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) curriculum over each three-year rolling period.
CPHR Canada has partnered with illuxi to offer you a three-hour ethics course called Navigating Change: Ethical Responsibilities in the Digital Age. Completing this free ethics course will provide you with the three-hour minimum ethics requirement for your designation.
The three-hour online course can be taken at any time from a computer. You can pause the training and pick up where you left off, so it does not need to be completed in one sitting. At the end, you will be provided with an online certificate in which you can keep as proof of documentation for your CPD hours. For the course to show as completed, you must complete the self-assessment of skills post-training and the assessment questionnaire at the end. Remember to enter your hours into the Online Reporting System using the ethics template.
All CPHRs must meet a mandatory 60-hour CPD requirement as part of their continued certification during each three-year rolling period. Within that 60 hours, three hours must relate to ethics specifically. The three-hour CPD requirement can be obtained through various providers that offer ethics training. Again, this is only a requirement over a three-year rolling period, not every year.

Ethics Course Completion
For the course to be considered complete, participants must finish both the self-assessment of skills post-training and the assessment questionnaire.
There is a training certificate that can be downloaded from the ethics course platform for audit purposes.
CPHRs who obtained designation in 2025
For those CPHRs who obtained the designation in 2025 through the Validation of Experience (VOE) process, you do not start earning CPD until January 1, 2026. An email will be sent to you at the beginning of January 2026 for the ethics course.
