Adjusting your summer office, wherever you’re working from

At the end of July, we took a poll on social media to find out where our members and followers were working from. The results were pretty split:
Though our physical offices may have changed, one thing stays the same: we’re all trying to figure out how to keep employees healthy, motivated and productive.
Even if we physically can’t be together, it’s nice to know we have support. Here are a few ideas from members to encourage team-building among your staff:
- Start a walking or jogging group over the lunch hour.
- Organize a donation drive for a local charity.
- Buy potted plants for your coworkers and have a contest to see who can grow it better.
- Start an office book club and carve out a couple hours a month to talk about it.
- Create a recipe swap and share your favourite recipes with your coworkers.
We reached out to our membership, asking what their offices were doing differently this summer. One started a whole new company.
David and Nancy Smith at Logia Consulting have served dozens of Saskatchewan companies and hundreds of business leaders for over a decade. They coach, mentor, facilitate and train leaders, teams and board of directors.
Before COVID-19, most of their work was in-person, so David says the company had to pivot quickly. David co-founded a new national company called Virtual Leadership Matters Inc™.
“Using distance technologies, mostly webinars, we introduce leaders and their remote working teams to virtual technology solutions and enhanced leadership systems,” says David.
They’ve helped organizations reframe their plans and mindsets to better cope with new norms and stresses.

What is your office doing differently?
Tell us about it. Share it on social media and tag us on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
Better yet, create and share a video.
We’re asking members to share their stories all year and this summer’s theme is “How to Beat the Heat.”
Record or upload your video and share it on social media with the hashtags #ThisisMyHR and #cphrSK15years. Each month during our 15-year anniversary, one participant will win a $25 gift card to a local establishment of their choice! Click here for rules, tips and how to submit.
