CPHR Saskatchewan 2019 Nominating Committee Report

The Nominating Committee strives to create a nominating process that is inclusive of the members of CPHR Saskatchewan and ensures the ongoing alignment and successful governance for the organization. In June of this year the Nominating Committee sought expressions of interest from members of the Association who wished to be considered for nomination to the Board. Nominations closed July 5, 2019.
When proposing nominees for election to the Board, the Nominating Committee and the Board consider the following: membership in good standing in CPHR Saskatchewan, CPHR designation, previous board experience (on the CPHR Saskatchewan Board or on the board of directors of other organizations), commitment to CPHR Saskatchewan, senior human resources and/or general business and student leadership roles, governance and legislative experience, diversity factors, in addition to such personal characteristics as strategic vision and leadership capabilities.
Our Bylaws provide for a Board comprised of a minimum of six and a maximum of fourteen Directors. As of June 2019, the CPHR Saskatchewan board consists of 14 Directors.
In accordance with our Bylaws, the following Directors are within their approved terms of office and arecontinuing on the Board:
- Wade Epp, CPHR
- Shauna Flaman, CPHR
- Glenda Francis, CPHR
- Ali Scott, Student
- Jill Salamon, CPHR
- Lionel Tootoosis, CPHR
President, Angèle Borys, CPHR has completed her term as President and will be moving into the role of Past-President as of the AGM in October 2019.
President-Elect Gary Mearns, CPHR moves to the role of President for a one-year term as of the AGM in October 2019.
Director, Robert Haynes, J.D. has completed his third term on the board and will be leaving the Board as of theAGM in October 2019.
The Nominating Committee is pleased to recommend Tamara Erhardt, CPHR for the role of President-Elect for the 2019-2020 year as of the AGM in October 2019. Tamara is completing her first term on the CPHR Saskatchewan board and is Chair of the Governance Committee.
The Nominating Committee is recommending the election of 6 directors, such that the Board be comprised of a total of 14 Directors for the 2019-2020 year.
Proposed Slate of Candidates – AGM 2019
The Nominating Committee is pleased to recommend the following candidates for election. These candidates are current Board members and are eligible for re-election pursuant to our Bylaws, and whose names will be included on the formal slate of candidates presented to the membership at the AGM in October 2019:

2. Mark Hillmer, CPHR
3. Lee Knafelc, CPHR
4. Renee LaPlante, CPHR
5. Shannon Whyley, LLB
The Nominating Committee is pleased to recommend Tamara Erhardt, CPHR for the role of President-Elect for the 2019-2020 year.
The Nominating Committee is pleased to recommend the following candidate for election to fill the remaining 1 seat, for a 2-year term, and whose name will be included on the formal slate of candidates presented to the membership at the AGM in October 2019:
6. Sarah Johnston, CPHR
As per the Bylaws Article 9.8, nominations for election as Director may not be made at the annual general meeting at which the election will be held, or elected Directors will be declared.
Notice of the Annual General Meeting and all correspondence will be sent to the membership no later thanMonday September 16, 2019.
