HR Competency:  Workforce Planning and Talent Management

Description:

Finding (and keeping) exceptional employees in today’s labour market is a familiar challenge for every employer. High staff turnover, and the subsequent time spent recruiting and training new team members, are regularly cited as a major cost of doing business.

In addition, customers and stakeholders also expect that the businesses they frequent will demonstrate their commitment to inclusion and diversity by employing a workforce that truly reflects the wider communities in which they live.

Is there a way employers can meet these expectations, and still satisfy their operational needs?

Yes! There is a largely untapped, unique pool of talented candidates that can positively contribute towards all of the above – and so much more.

Join us in exploring the many ways in which hiring and working alongside people with diverse-abilities can not only improve the bottom line, but fundamentally transform the culture of a workplace for the better.

In this presentation, you will learn:

  • Explore current and historic attitudes/beliefs about hiring and working alongside people with diverse-abilities; dispel common myths and stereotypes
  • Define the supported employment model for people with diverse-abilities, and how services work in partnership with businesses in community
  • Develop your understanding of how HR professionals can play a pivotal role in raising awareness and increasing capacity for inclusion within their organizations
  • Hear stories of success from the world of supported employment; consider how you may encourage similar practices within your own organization
Who should attend:
  • HR professionals who are interested in learning about people with diverse-abilities at work, and exploring how they can develop their organization's capacity to do the same.
